Hi, I’m Scott Cole.
Longer Tee Shots is dedicated to helping golfers like you learn how to hit bombs off the tee.
I can tell you from experience, there is nothing more fun in golf than hitting big drives past my playing partners.
Throughout my competitive playing career, that was the case about 98% of the time.
And now, at 58 years old, given that my swing speed is still upwards of 110 mph, I want to share my knowledge with you so you can hit bombs yourself!
I can pretty much guarantee you won’t find many golf coaches like me, if any at all.
I played well enough competitively back in the day to earn a scholarship to play golf at William and Mary.
In high school, I was also a competitive swimmer… not great, but good enough to make it to the PA State high school meet on two relays.
From 2000 to 2008 I trained in the martial art of Pai Lum kung fu, and I earned my black belt in 2007.
In 2009, I decided to try my hand at teaching golf. While I was certainly a good player, I knew nothing about actual teaching.
So, I ventured off to the Hank Haney Golf Ranch to learn from the man who was coaching Tiger Woods at the time. I repeated that venture in 2010, and was enrolled in the Hank Haney Pro certification program through 2012.
Admittedly, I haven’t played much golf over the last ten years, as I’ve had other priorities.
One of those priorities is strength training.
I’ve been training the Starting Strength method for about two years now, but not with the consistency it deserved.
That is the case now. I don’t focus much attention on other training programs I trained over the years (Body 4 Life, P90X, Insanity, Bodybuilding, etc).
There is nothing more empowering than getting stronger, and now I am bringing what I’ve learned in my own training and study to golf.
Golf is inundated with much of the fitness nonsense known as “functional training.”
That training is popular with tour pros and athletes from other sports, who don’t understand that it’s really all just performance art.
A good solid and simple barbell training program will do wonders for most golfers, but many people are drawn to complexity.
This was another major reason why I created Longer Tee Shots… to teach the value of barbell training to golfers who not only want longer drives, but who also want to play at a decent level into their 80s and beyond.
With all that said, I hope you take the time to read some of the articles on this website and sign up for my email list so you can learn how to hit bombs!
Now, get to work!
